Robert Ratcheson Made President-elect of AANS

 

Robert A. Ratcheson, M.D., has been elected president-elect of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS).  He chairs the Department of Neurological Surgery at the CWRU School of Medicine and at University Hospitals of Cleveland. Active in many professional organizations, Ratcheson also is currently president of the Society of Neurological Surgeons.

            AANS, a scientific and educational association with more than 6,500 members worldwide, is dedicated to advancing the specialty of neurological surgery in order to provide the highest quality of neurological care to the public.   An active member of the AANS since 1976, Ratcheson has served as a member of the AANS Board of Directors (1997 to present), member of the AANS Long-Range Planning Committee (1998 to present), chair of the Annual Meeting Committee (1997), and chair of the Van Wagenen Fellowship Committee (1981).

            A prolific author and investigator, Ratcheson has written numerous chapters for books and articles for scientific journals.  In addition, he served as chairman of the Journal of Neurosugery’s editorial board, and has served on editorial boards of such publications as Neurosurgery, Clinical Neurosurgery, Journal of Neuro-Ophthalmolgy, and editor of Concepts in Neurosurgery.
