Type A Electives are mini-courses, sponsored by CWRU faculty and conducted during afternoons. Each is six weeks long and typically meets one afternoon per week. Most are conducted as seminars, although there is wide variation in course format. Some have prerequisites. Some are restricted to second year students. One unit of Flexible Program credit is given for the completion of one Type A Electives.
All students are required to participate in the Flexible Program, and the minimum is the same for all students. Within the Flexible Program and within the minimum course requirements Areas of Concentration (AoCs) are offered to those students who wish to pursue them.
