Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine recognizes the fact that medicine is a highly complex and diversified field and that students should have a freedom of choice, with the advice and consent of their advisors, to plan electives in the Flexible Program that will enhance their educational experience and help them to achieve their individual career goals.
This catalog contains the Type B electives descriptions. Students who are making satisfactory progress are free to select any of the programs listed in the catalog but need not limit themselves to these alone. Other programs, particularly student-initiated, can be arranged.
All students are required to participate in the Flexible Program, and the minimum is the same for all students. Within the Flexible Program and within the minimum course requirements Areas of Concentration (AoCs) are offered to those students who wish to pursue them.
